Link Types Overview
Every link in WP LinkCanvas has a type — called a style — that controls how it looks and behaves on the bio page. You choose the style when adding or editing a link. The same link can be switched to a different style at any time without losing the URL or label.
The six link styles#
Button#
The default style. A full-width clickable button with a label and an optional icon. Clean, fast, and works for any destination URL — another website, a product page, a booking link, a social profile, anything.
Use this for: most links.
Enhanced Link (photo card)#
A wide card with a background image, a title overlay, and an optional icon badge in the corner. The image fills the card and the label sits on top. Ideal for highlighting a specific product, a featured piece of content, or a seasonal promotion.
Use this for: featured links that benefit from a visual.
Media (square thumbnail)#
A compact row with a square image thumbnail on the left and a label on the right. Closer to a list item than a card — works well when you have several visual links and want them to take up less vertical space.
Use this for: product or content lists with images.
Embed (playable iframe)#
Renders an inline playable embed directly on the bio page. Paste a YouTube, Vimeo, Spotify, SoundCloud, Twitch, or other supported platform URL and the embed loads in place. Visitors do not leave the page to watch or listen.
Use this for: a featured YouTube video, a podcast episode, a Spotify track.
Shortcode (form / widget)#
Renders any WordPress shortcode output inside the link area. Paste a shortcode — a contact form, a quiz, a calculator, an email opt-in — and it renders inline on the bio page.
Use this for: embedding WordPress plugin output directly in the bio.
Vidstack Player (self-hosted)#
A full-featured video or audio player powered by Vidstack. Upload your video to Bunny Stream, Cloudflare Stream, or any direct URL source and play it natively without YouTube branding or recommendations. Supports poster images, custom player colours, and audio-only mode.
Use this for: self-hosted content where you want a branded player with no platform interference.
Settings available on every link#
Regardless of style, every link has the same set of controls in its toolbar:
Schedule — set a start date, end date, or both. The link shows and hides automatically. Leave both fields empty to keep the link always visible.
Featured — marks the link with a visual highlight so it stands out from the rest. Useful for a main call to action or a time-limited offer.
Sensitive content gate — adds a click-through confirmation before the link opens. Use this per-link for individual destinations that need a warning. For gating the entire page see the page-level gate in Page Options.
Enable / disable — hides the link from the bio page without deleting it. Re-enable it at any time.
Icon — an optional SVG icon shown inside the button. Choose from the built-in icon set or upload your own.
Open in new tab — controls whether the link opens in the same tab or a new one.
