Featured Links

2 min readUpdated June 15, 2026

The Featured toggle highlights a link on the bio page with a subtle animation, drawing the visitor’s eye to it without hiding or moving other links. Use it for your main call to action, a time-limited offer, or anything you want to stand out from the rest of the list.

  1. Find the link in the bio page editor
  2. Click the star icon in the link’s toolbar
  3. The star fills in to show the link is featured
  4. Save the bio page

Click the star again to remove the featured state. Any number of links on the same bio page can be featured simultaneously.

What it looks like#

The visual effect depends on the link style:

Button, Embed, Shortcode — a subtle diagonal light sweep animates across the surface of the link every few seconds. It draws the eye gently without jumping or shaking.

Enhanced Link (card) and Media — the same light sweep plays, plus a soft pulsing outer glow in the theme’s accent colour radiates from the edges of the card at a 2.4-second interval.

Vidstack player — the sweep animation plays across the player wrapper.

Reduced motion#

WP LinkCanvas respects the visitor’s operating system preference for reduced motion (prefers-reduced-motion: reduce). On devices where reduced motion is enabled:

  • Both the sweep animation and the pulse glow are disabled
  • The featured link instead receives a solid accent-coloured outline so the highlight is still visible, just without movement

This applies automatically — no configuration needed.

The Featured toggle is purely visual — it does not change the link’s position in the list, its click behaviour, or any other setting. To promote a link to the top of the list, drag it there using the reorder handle.

Featured can be combined with scheduling to create a highlighted link that only appears during a promotion window, and with geo targeting to show the featured highlight only in specific countries.
